ASP upload image file

Im writing an asp page which allows users to upload files which are then
saved in a database table as an image. The problem is that the webpage is on
one server and the data is stored on another server, I can save the image to
the server the webpages are on but not the other, just get the error:
ADODB.Recordset error '800a0cb3'
Current Recordset does not support updating. This may be a limitation of the
provider, or of the selected locktype.
Is it possible to do this?

is the db on the same internal network as the webserver?
if it is i dont think thats your problem, post some code.

asp HTTP 500 error

Hello there,

I have created a login page for users. The login page contain <FORM action="verifyuser.asp" method="post">. The verifyuser page verify that the user exist in the database. All the pages, home, login, memberspage, updatemember, seems to be working properly except for the verifyuser page. This is the code for the page:

Whenever I try to login a HTTP 500 Internal Server Error appears... I have no idea whether that caused by the codes or because I'm using Vista? Thanks

If I recall, HTTP 500 is a login/security error.

On another VERY important point.

Assuming the above error is corrected, What do you think would be the result if the user were to type the following in the UserName textbox on the Login.asp page? (Type the characters between the square brackets.)

An even worst mistake is that you are using the 'sa' account - for after the 'hacker' uses the above exploit, he/she is in your database operating under the 'sa' account. At that moment, the hacker 'owns' your database, and your entire server and all other databases on the server. And depending upon your network security, he/she may be able to access other servers and resources on your network.

Yes, you have another redirect, but that is a minor inconvenience to a hacker...

Is the first row in the users table the administrator? Quite often the case...

Suddenly not feeling too comfortable, wondering if your rsum needs updating, thinking that now might be a good time to start that other business you've been dreaming about?

ASP 1.1 & Report Server Login Problems

Hello everyone

we're having some strage trouble concerning ASP 1.1 and reporting services. We use a ASP 1.1 solution in which we authenticate Users using a self-written Login Mask. One page of the project consists of a report which is provided by report server. now, after displaying this report once, all other ASP 1.1 Forms do not work anymore, they simply keep empty.

My guess is that while conecting to the report server, an athenticated connection is established and kept up, even if the report is closed again.

I'd have to see it to believe it. Can you post a screenshot of what you are seeing? If not, then can you describe the situation a bit further. The problem description appears to be much too general.

ASP .NET Application is Hanging when number of user grows

Hi,

Asp.net 2.0 (VB) application with Sql server 2000 Installed in windows 2000 professional server.Only less than 10 users using this application.

The problem is sometimes the application didn't response, it's very slow to get the information and after sometimes its never responding it showing hourclass.

I used Helper class (Application Block). Since Sql Server 2000 doesn't have the MARS Function, i have manually close the connection and opening again everytime.

Any idea?. Thanks in advance.

Sounds like you need to determine what the bottleneck is. It could any number of things from the network, memory, hardware.

Are there other databases on this server in use?

How many records are being returned from sql server?

Are the tables that are being hit indexed?

I'd have the sql server dba monitor usage on the server in question.

Yes, In this server there are about 3 applications running.

Very few records only returning (100 records)

We set only the primary key index.

is there any problem with connection closing in the object base class?

I can't really speak on whether or not the .NET code is the issue. I have more experience with database tuning.

What do the query plans look like for the queries the application is using?

Are there large table index scans?

Try running sp_who2 or select * from sys.dm_db_exec_requests to monitor system usage/performance

Sounds like you need to determine what the bottleneck is. It could any number of things from the network, memory, hardware.

Are there other databases on this server in use?

How many records are being returned from sql server?

Are the tables that are being hit indexed?

I'd have the sql server dba monitor usage on the server in question.

Yes, In this server there are about 3 applications running.

Very few records only returning (100 records)

We set only the primary key index.

I can't really speak on whether or not the .NET code is the issue. I have more experience with database tuning.

What do the query plans look like for the queries the application is using?

Are there large table index scans?

Try running sp_who2 or select * from sys.dm_db_exec_requests to monitor system usage/performance

are there any MSDE T-SQL code limitations?

I am writing a database app which will run under MSDE on the user's systems.

Other than limitations as to the number of concurrent users, are there any
issues that I need to be aware of when programming the database using SQL
Server 2000? i.e., are there T-SQL programming statements that will run
under SQL Server 2000 as part of my development enviornemnt that won't run
under MSDE on the end users machines, or will MSDE handle anything that SQL
Server can from the database engine standpoint?

all T-SQL statements SQL Server 2000 supports are supported by MSDE...
you only (only...) have database limitation size, limited replication
support, no mail support...
